NOTICE TO ONLINE ENTRANTS

In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the "Authorized Account Holder" of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. Authorized Account Holder means the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered, or mass entries or entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated devices are void. The Sponsor is not responsible for: (i) lost, late, misdirected, damaged or illegible entries; or (ii) error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of or failure to receive entry information by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or any combination thereof; or (iii) any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in the Sweepstakes. By participating in the Sweepstakes, you (i) agree to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of Sponsor and the independent judging organization, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Failure to comply with these official rules may result in disqualification from the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right to: (i) permanently disqualify from any sweepstakes it sponsors any person it believes has intentionally violated these Official Rules; and (ii) withdraw the online method of entry if it becomes technically corrupted (including if a computer virus or system malfunction inalterably impairs its ability to conduct the Sweepstakes), and to select winners from among all eligible entries received prior to withdrawal.

Eligibility: The “Life Hurts. Laughs Help. Sweepstakes” (“Sweepstakes”) is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia age 18 or older at time of entry. Employees of Entertainment Weekly (the “Sponsor”), HBO Video, and their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to enter. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law.

Entry: Method #1: To enter, visit http://www.ew.com/ew/video/hbo between 12:01 AM Eastern Time ("ET") on 3/17/08 and 11:59 PM (ET) on 11/2/08 (“Sweepstakes Entry Period”), and follow all entry instructions to complete and submit the online entry. The Sweepstakes Entry Period consists of 33 Weekly Drawings whereby each week will begin at 12:01 AM ET on a given Monday and end 11:59 PM ET on a given Sunday (“Weekly Drawing Period”). There will be a random drawing held for each Weekly Drawing Period. Online entries must be received during any Weekly Drawing Period within the Sweepstakes Entry Period. Online entries will only be valid for the random drawing for the week the online entries are received (as outlined above) and will not be entered into subsequent drawings. If a sufficient number of entries are not received for a given Weekly Drawing Period, the following week’s entries will be used to award the prize, provided a sufficient number of entries are received for that Weekly Drawing Period. This process will be repeated until all 33 weekly prizes are awarded. If sufficient number entries are not received for the last Weekly Drawing Period, then the prize for that Weekly Drawing Period will be awarded from among all eligible entries received on the previous Weekly Drawing Period. Online entrants subject to all notices posted online including but not limited to privacy policy. Limit: One online entry per person or email address per day. Method #2: To enter via US mail, mail a postcard with your name and address to: “Life Hurts. Laughs Help. Sweepstakes”, P.O. Box 9262, Medford, NY 11763-9262. Each postcard must be mailed separately. Mail-in entries must be postmarked between 3/17/08 and 11/2/08 (“Sweepstakes Entry Period”). Mail-in Entries will be eligible for the random drawing during the week it is postmarked as long as it is received by 8 days from the last day of the given Weekly Drawing Period. Photocopied, illegible, or mechanically reproduced entries are not eligible. All entries and requests become Sponsor's property and will not be returned or acknowledged.  Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected or postage due mail/entries.

Prizes/Approximate Retail Values ("ARV"): Thirty three (33) Weekly Prizes: HBO DVD Prize Pack. Each Prize Pack will consist of: the complete first season of the following: 1) Extras; 2) Flight of the Conchords; 3) Curb Your Enthusiasm; and 4) Entourage (ARV: $139.92 per Prize Pack). One (1) HBO DVD Prize Pack will be awarded per Weekly Drawing Period. Total ARV of all prizes: $4,617.36. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries, estimated at 1:10,000.

Random Drawing: Winners will be selected in random drawings from all eligible entries received for each Weekly Drawing Period during the Sweepstakes Entry Period.  Random drawing for each Weekly Drawing Period will be conducted within approximately 10 days after end of each Weekly Drawing Period under supervision of Ventura Associates, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final. Winners will be notified by mail within 14 days of each weekly drawing. Prizes will be awarded within 30 days after winner verification. If a prize and/or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, it will result in disqualification, and the corresponding prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing. If a winner is otherwise eligible under these Official Rules, but is nevertheless deemed a minor in his or her state of primary residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of winner's parent or legal guardian. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-assignable or transferable except to a surviving spouse. If a prize is not available, the Sponsor has the right to substitute the prize for an equal or grater value. Winners are responsible for all federal, state, local and sales and income taxes. Entry and acceptance of any prize constitute permission to use each winner's name, prize won, hometown and likeness for online posting and promotional purposes without further compensation, except where prohibited by law. Limit: one prize per household. All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded. 

General: Participating entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of Ventura Associates, Inc. and the Sponsor, and release the Sponsor, Entertainment Weekly and their parent and affiliated companies, and all other businesses involved in this Sweepstakes, as well as the employees, officers, directors and agents of each, from all claims and liability relating to their participation, acceptance and use of any prize. Winners assume all liability for any injury or damage caused or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Sweepstakes or use or redemption of the prizes. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Sweepstakes or in the announcement of any prize.

Winners acknowledge that the Sponsor, and all other businesses concerned with this Sweepstakes and their agents do not make, nor are in any manner responsible for any warranty, representations, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative the quality, conditions, fitness or merchantability of any aspect of prize except that the prizes shall be subject to manufacturer’s standard warranty.
